Stuck in a rut....
....or in the mud. You could've found me either place today. Now who can get thereself stuck not once but TWICE in one day? oh yeah, that can only be me w/ my random lapses of common sense. So I actually started out my day relatively early today. I was out of the house a little after 8. The morning went well. Then as I was driving to my field near Westville i notice storm clouds building up. I decided to race the rain to the field and got about half way through it when it started blowing like crazy. I ran to my car and the big fat drops of rain started about 10 seconds after i closed the door...just in time. Food was sounding good then so i went to grab a bit at Mickey d's. The storm was just a popcorn storm (pops up then leaves) so i go back to my field. there's a long grass irrigation lane that goes to the middle of the field so i take that to be closer to where i left it for the storm. i try to make a u-y around the irrigation pivot but turn to wide and get stuck in the mud. great, i think, just what i need. i try for awhile to remedy the situation, i shove corn stalks under the tires, dead grass, anything the tires might grab but to no avail. I send out a plea to the parents on the cell phone but they're still in St. Louis. As I'm talking to my mother tho a little white car starts driving down the lane. It end up being the owner of the field who was coming to check out the pivot b/c there'd been a tank of gas stolen from it. He helped push me out. I don't know what i would've done if he hadn't come along at the moment. God really does answer prayers!
So I finish with that field and i'm heading to others when my storms blow up. The lightening is scaring me so I decide that its crazy to stay out any longer. I head home for a coupla hours.
The sky clears up and i drove back to the lacrosse area. i go to one field and then realize i can't get into it for a little while so i check my others. I'm heading to check the last one and there's only one lane to it. it's got two sides to it, one was dirt with water sitting anywhere, the other was grass. well, i try to be smart and go down the grass path...the next thing i know my car is a beached whale, the center got taller and stopped it from going anywhere. oh the joy.
A flury of phone calls follows, along with my trying-by hand-to dig the car out. It doesn't work. My parents call the Zimmerman's who go to my church and they come help me out. They're so great :). 2.5 hours after i first find myself stuck and arrive at home, with the car. Thank you God! My parents arive 5 minutes later. And I'm back at home again :).
