My life...where to start?
I'm back at St Olaf! woohoo. Dad and I left last Friday and took several days getting up here. Friday we stopped at Ikea in Chicago first, i love that place. However we didn't stay long so the fish didn't boil in the hot car. Later, after a lot of driving we stopped at House on the rock. That place is crazy awesome. This guy built a house that kind of raps around a humongously tall rock that was pretty cool and then there were collections of all kinds of things. I don't know, it was pretty cool. Saturday we stopped in Gleason WI, the tiny town where my grandmother was born. We saw the old farmhouse site, church, etc. and talked to an 88 yr old lady who had actually worked for her cousin. I love family history stuff. In the afternoon we found a bike trail and rode like 15 miles. The trail rode through some pretty country and lakes.
Sunday was a foggy day. but we rode up the Lake Superior Shore anyway...that was a pretty drive. Our destination was Split Rock lighthouse. lighthouses are so fascinating. Afterwards we drove closer to st olaf--back to the cities! We hit mall of america about 15 minutes after it closed so then just found our hotel.
The next morning after some setbacks (including a gas spill b/c the pump didn't turn off :-p) we made it to st olaf!!! wooohooo. Since then I've been getting the room situated and spending time with friends. It's so great to be back. Well, I shall write more later but i beliav this is already rather long so I'll sign off...

Stuck in a rut....

....or in the mud. You could've found me either place today. Now who can get thereself stuck not once but TWICE in one day? oh yeah, that can only be me w/ my random lapses of common sense. So I actually started out my day relatively early today. I was out of the house a little after 8. The morning went well. Then as I was driving to my field near Westville i notice storm clouds building up. I decided to race the rain to the field and got about half way through it when it started blowing like crazy. I ran to my car and the big fat drops of rain started about 10 seconds after i closed the door...just in time. Food was sounding good then so i went to grab a bit at Mickey d's. The storm was just a popcorn storm (pops up then leaves) so i go back to my field. there's a long grass irrigation lane that goes to the middle of the field so i take that to be closer to where i left it for the storm. i try to make a u-y around the irrigation pivot but turn to wide and get stuck in the mud. great, i think, just what i need. i try for awhile to remedy the situation, i shove corn stalks under the tires, dead grass, anything the tires might grab but to no avail. I send out a plea to the parents on the cell phone but they're still in St. Louis. As I'm talking to my mother tho a little white car starts driving down the lane. It end up being the owner of the field who was coming to check out the pivot b/c there'd been a tank of gas stolen from it. He helped push me out. I don't know what i would've done if he hadn't come along at the moment. God really does answer prayers!
So I finish with that field and i'm heading to others when my storms blow up. The lightening is scaring me so I decide that its crazy to stay out any longer. I head home for a coupla hours.
The sky clears up and i drove back to the lacrosse area. i go to one field and then realize i can't get into it for a little while so i check my others. I'm heading to check the last one and there's only one lane to it. it's got two sides to it, one was dirt with water sitting anywhere, the other was grass. well, i try to be smart and go down the grass path...the next thing i know my car is a beached whale, the center got taller and stopped it from going anywhere. oh the joy.
A flury of phone calls follows, along with my trying-by hand-to dig the car out. It doesn't work. My parents call the Zimmerman's who go to my church and they come help me out. They're so great :). 2.5 hours after i first find myself stuck and arrive at home, with the car. Thank you God! My parents arive 5 minutes later. And I'm back at home again :).

And so it begins....

wow...work has definitely started again. I walked and walked and walked today...and saw lots of corn :). You wait and wait for something to happen then *boom* it all hits at once. But I don't mind, i need something to keep me occupied, and it's great to be outside all day. The weather was absolutely wonderful today. Blue skies and a nice breeze...heaven.

So yeah, that was my day today, nothing besides work. Yesterday was a little more exciting. It started out with me venting my frustrations with life to Tony on AIM. It's amazing how relieving it is to talk with someone. After calming down a bit I went to check a field. For lunch I met up with Tony and we grabbed a sub at subway....ymmmm....and i didn't have to cook ;). Afterwards we threw the frisbee around at the park. i'm turning into a frisbee lover like my sister....oh no! ;) Tony had to go to work at Wally's world, so I did some stuff around the house for the rest of the afternoon.

In the evening I met up with Kevin, a good friend from high school. It was good to get together with him...hadn't seen him in awhile. We met at the Starke County 4H Fair. There wasn't much to do, unless you wanted to watch the tractor pull, so after checking out the booths and chatting w/ people we went to South Bend to catch a movie. Before it started we decided to search for food. While we were in a taco bell across town a huge storm blew up. All the workers were freaking out and water started leaking in all over the place. I love storms :). We made it back in time for the movie. We watched Steven Spielberg's the Terminal . I thought it was a really good movie...done very well. It was also very long, so didn't get back until very late. It was a very good day!
